Six men have been detained in Pikine-Guédiawaye in proceedings involving alleged intentional HIV transmission, criminal association, acts against nature and endangering the lives of others. The first-chamber investigating judge ordered their detention after they were referred to prosecutors by the Keur Massar research brigade, according to Seneweb.
The people involved are Ousseynou Diop, 41, Mamadou Yoro Ba, known as Modou Ba Gawlo, Dame Guèye, Ousmane Ndiaye, Abdou Seck and Abdourahmane Diop. Their guilt has not been established. The public prosecutor had requested that a judicial investigation be opened and that they be detained.
The proceedings follow an operation carried out in Dakar against an alleged network of meetings between men, during which nine people were arrested. The six men currently detained are the group referred to the judge in this case. The Keur Massar research brigade is conducting the investigations as part of a judicial delegation, iGFM reports, citing the daily Libération.
The prosecutor requested that the checks be extended to anyone else who might be involved. No hearing date has been announced.
