Nigerian President Bola Tinubu publicly questioned former vice-president Atiku Abubakar about the financing of the American University of Nigeria, created during his time in government. At a presidential rally at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Tinubu also accused former leaders of contributing to current economic difficulties, reports Vanguard.

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu on Saturday asked former vice-president Atiku Abubakar to explain how he was able to create a university while he was in government in charge of economic affairs. Tinubu was speaking at a presidential rally of the Rainbow Coalition at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, reports Vanguard.

In response to criticism over hunger and economic difficulties, Bola Tinubu accused previous governments, including the one in which Atiku served as vice-president to Olusegun Obasanjo, of contributing to the problems he says he inherited. He also claimed that the creation of Atiku’s university involved public money and efforts, according to Vanguard.

Tinubu’s intervention came on the same day as a publication about Atiku Abubakar, who says he invested in education from 1993, before becoming vice-president, according to Vanguard.
