Aliou Bobo Bah, known as Aliou Saifoulaye, died in detention on 27 October 2026 in Guinea after being arrested following an accident involving the vehicle of Djénabou Touré, the current Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation, according to a family member quoted anonymously by Guinee360.

The young man, from Boulléré, in the sub-prefecture of Sangarédi, was reportedly detained after the accident on 12 October. His family had requested his release so that he could receive psychiatric care, saying he had been suffering from depression since his father’s death, according to the same account.

The case had been referred to the Dixinn prosecutor’s office. The circumstances of the death remain disputed, while the prosecutor’s office and prison authorities had not responded by the time Guinee360 published its report. Djénabou Touré, who was director general of elections at the time of the accident, declined to comment on the case.

The death came a few days before the suspension of the governor and several prefects in Siguiri, announced on 30 October by Minister Djénabou Touré. The minister had also been at the centre of decisions concerning the appointment of interim prefects in Guinea, published on 1 October.
