Four former and current officials are under investigation over alleged misappropriation, corruption and illicit enrichment, according to Guinee360.
The special prosecutor of the Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offences (CRIEF), Alphonse Charles Wright, has ordered a preliminary investigation into the management of the National Fund for the Integration of Young People (FONIJ) since its creation. The investigation, dated 2 November 2026, concerns four former and current officials, according to Mondemedia.
Investigators are to examine alleged misappropriation of public funds, corruption of public officials, illicit enrichment and complicity. Those concerned are Mohamed Nabé, who led the fund from 2008 to 2011; Ousmane Touré, its manager from 2014 to 2019; Mariama Ciré Baldé, director-general from 2019 to 2022; and Abdouramane Baldé, who currently holds the post.
The investigation will focus in particular on the low repayment rate for funding awarded between 2016 and 2019 and on the management of the FONIJ budget, which was valued at 5.15 billion Guinean francs in 2023. The Grand Prix FONIJ programme, with funding of about 1.3 billion Guinean francs, and Lassiri, which plans to train 1,100 young women and fund 100 micro-projects, are also under investigation.
The investigation is part of a series of financial proceedings in Guinea. On 29 October, the authorities opened an investigation into 20 billion Guinean francs intended for school canteens, in the case of the school canteen funds.
