Guinea’s Professional Education Trade Union Federation has submitted 11 demands to the authorities on salaries, allowances, teachers’ status and learning conditions. The FSPE is calling in particular for the implementation of the January 2026 agreement, according to its organisation officer.
The Guinean Professional Education Trade Union Federation (FSPE) submitted a memorandum of 11 demands to the authorities during the belated celebration of World Teachers’ Day. The platform calls, among other things, for the full implementation of the agreement signed on 3 January 2026 between the government and the education inter-union body, according to Ramatoulaye Touré, the FSPE’s organisation officer.
The federation is also calling for the release of salaries for teachers in classroom positions since 2023, a location allowance for staff posted in the interior of the country, and regular payment of subsidies to educational organisations and schools. It is seeking the rehabilitation of classrooms, teaching materials, training in digital tools and implementation of the Special Education Statute.
The memorandum also calls for payment of documentation allowances to teachers recruited in 2024, the recruitment of 99 teachers who are counterparts of those at two Conakry universities, the inclusion of contract workers in the capital, and ratification of the International Labour Organization’s Convention 190 on violence and harassment at work. The FSPE says it remains available for social dialogue, according to Ramatoulaye Touré. This platform follows earlier demands by the FSPE union for a special statute for education, published on 31 October.
