The Nigerian army killed two suspected bandits in an ambush on the Adankolo–Apata road in Kogi State. The operation was carried out on Saturday by soldiers from Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, following intelligence about suspects’ movements in the Kabba-Bunu and Lokoja local government areas, the Nigerian army said on its X account.
The soldiers intercepted the suspects on a suspected supply route, forcing them to flee. A subsequent search of the Adankolo forest led to the discovery of two bodies believed to be those of the fugitives. The soldiers recovered a locally made pistol, a cartridge and an empty case from 7.62mm special ammunition, according to the Nigerian army.
The commander of Operation Whirl Stroke, Major General Moses Gara, congratulated the soldiers and called on residents to pass on any useful information to the security forces.
