Nigerian Navy Marines say they killed 34 Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in two operations in the Lake Chad region on 28 and 30 October 2026. The toll combines 28 deaths in the first operation and about six in Dumba during the second, according to the Nigerian Navy’s director of information.
The Nigerian Navy says it killed 34 Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa (ISWAP) fighters in two operations carried out on 28 and 30 October in the Lake Chad area. Navy spokesman Captain Abiodun Folorunsho gave the figure on Saturday, according to Vanguard.
The first operation, on 28 October, initially resulted in eight deaths, before a damage assessment raised the toll to 28 fighters killed. On 30 October, a strike against a Boko Haram enclave in Dumba reportedly killed about six people, according to a preliminary assessment. The navy said the figures remained subject to verification.
The operations were conducted by Nigerian Navy Marines based on Lake Chad, in coordination with the Nigerian Army’s 403 Amphibious Brigade, as part of Operation Hadin Kai. The Nigerian army had announced the previous day that it had killed 48 Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in separate operations in Borno, according to a report published on 30 October.
