Kanifing Mayor and Coalition 2026 candidate Talib Bensouda accuses the Gambian government of President Adama Barrow of altering the report of the commission of inquiry into local authorities before its publication. He says the version made public differs from the commissioners’ original draft, Gambiana reports.

At a rally in Old Yundum, Bensouda said he had seen preliminary versions of the report and claimed that material had been added. He described the inquiry as politically motivated and said the report would one day be investigated. His allegations were not accompanied by supporting evidence in the statements reported by Gambiana.

The government has recommended that Bensouda be removed from his position over alleged economic crimes. The mayor nevertheless reiterated his presidential ambitions to his supporters.
