Gabon is seeking to attract investment and establish new economic partnerships at the third Russia-Africa Summit, being held on 28 and 29 October 2026 in Moscow, according to Infos Gabon. The country is represented by Hermann Immongault, vice-president of the government, on behalf of head of state Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.
The meeting, held under the theme ‘For peace, security and development’, brings African and Russian delegations together around energy, food security, infrastructure, health, education and technology. Libreville notably wants to explore cooperation in agriculture, fishing, aquaculture, forestry, industry, transport, digital technology, research and training.
The summit will also examine prospects for a joint action plan for 2027-2029. New agreements are being considered in trade, investment, energy and agriculture, in line with the priorities of Gabon’s National Growth and Development Plan, Infos Gabon reports.
The inaugural plenary session was co-chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye, who currently holds the chairmanship of the African Union. The participation comes after the launch of a CFA-francs 114 billion cement plant in Akanda, on 22 October, and the activities marking the 43rd anniversary of ECCAS in Libreville, launched on 20 October.
