Ebrima Tabora Manneh, leader of Gambia’s People’s Alliance Party, accuses Adama Barrow’s government of taking the country backwards in several sectors. He made the criticism after filing his candidacy for the 5 December 2026 presidential election, according to Gambiana, citing economic and social difficulties in particular.

Ebrima Tabora Manneh, leader of Gambia’s People’s Alliance Party (PAP), accuses the government of President Adama Barrow of failing to make progress in several sectors. He made the criticism after filing his nomination documents with the Independent Electoral Commission for the 5 December 2026 presidential election, reports Gambiana.

Manneh says Gambia, which has fewer than three million inhabitants, should be able to improve living conditions more quickly. He cites health, education, employment and security among the sectors facing serious difficulties, in his view, and compares Gambia’s trajectory with that of Rwanda and Singapore.

The PAP leader particularly referred to Singapore, which he says has become an attractive destination for employment, while young Gambians undertake dangerous irregular migration in search of better prospects. He says he wants to remain engaged in politics to make Gambia one of Africa’s best-performing countries.
