USM Alger won the 2026 CAF Super Cup by beating Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1 at Loftus Versfeld in South Africa. Zakaria Draoui, Saâdi Redouani and Ahmed Khaldi scored for the Algerians, while Iqraam Rayners equalised from the penalty spot. The Algerians claimed their second continental trophy, reports Africa Top Sports.
The match was played at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, where Mamelodi Sundowns dominated possession without converting their pressure into goals. The South Africans were awarded their penalty after an intervention by the video assistant referee (VAR). Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams and midfielder Teboho Mokoena had returned to the starting line-up after injuries.
Sundowns also had to make two early changes. Nuno Santos was injured during the warm-up and was replaced by Cassius Mailula, while Bryan Leon, who suffered a groin injury in the 16th minute, was replaced by Iqraam Rayners.
The second half was delayed by more than 30 minutes because of poor weather conditions. Despite South Africa’s dominance in the second half, USM Alger maintained their advantage thanks to a compact defence and Khaldi’s curling shot in the 55th minute.
