Soldiers from the 33rd Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian army intercepted a vehicle carrying military equipment on 7 November on the Ningi–Shamaki road in Bauchi State. A search uncovered a bag containing a pair of desert boots, camouflage clothing and bandoliers, according to Lake Chad region security expert Zagazola Makama, citing security sources.

A female passenger had left the vehicle before the search, saying she wanted to relieve herself in a nearby bush, then fled after the equipment was discovered. The other passengers told the soldiers that the bag belonged to her. The driver and remaining passengers were placed in military detention for investigation, according to Zagazola Makama.

The interception took place at around 9am, according to the same official. The military must determine the origin of the equipment and the circumstances of its transport as part of the investigation.
