ADC candidate for the Lagos governorship Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour promises to build 100,000 homes during his first four years in office. He proposes an integrated approach to urban planning, housing and transport during a debate among candidates for the 2027 elections, according to Tribune Online.
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for governor of Lagos, promises to connect the state's railway lines within two and a half years through a scheme led with the private sector. He also proposed a housing system allowing residents to move from smaller to larger homes as their families and incomes change, reports Tribune Online.
Rhodes-Vivour wants to finance his urban programme through a luxury tax and the development of Lagos's eastern waterfront. He also promised to create jobs for young people at neighbourhood level to reduce insecurity and the activities of political thugs, as well as tackle flooding through wetland protection, better urban design and water management technologies, according to Tribune Online.
The ADC candidate presented these proposals during the debate among four candidates on housing and taxes, organised by the Nigeria Debate Consortium ahead of the 2027 election in Lagos.
