The Nigerian army freed 119 civilians abducted by terrorists in Borno State and recovered eight vehicles. The operation was conducted by the 135th Special Forces Battalion after soldiers spotted the abductors on the Dutsen Kura-Bulazarma-Kamuya road, according to an operational report by the Nigerian army released on Saturday in Abuja and reported by Vanguard.
The soldiers also found and detonated an improvised explosive device in the Bam-Buratai-Bulazarma area. In a separate operation in Bama, a suspected fighter from Jama’atu Ahlis-Sunna Lidda’Awati Wal-Jihad (JAS), a Nigerian jihadist armed group, surrendered with an FN rifle and seven 7.62mm NATO rounds, according to the same report.
On 5 November, soldiers and members of the Hybrid Force arrested a man suspected of being an informant and collaborator of terrorists in Ngamdu, still according to the report. In Abuja, the army also prevented the abduction of a former senior military official and his son at their home in Kurudu, where the attackers had wounded both men before fleeing in the face of the soldiers’ intervention.
These operations come after three women abducted in Plateau State on 7 November and two young women abducted in Zamfara State on 8 November were freed, respectively announced by the Nigerian army in Plateau and the Nigerian army in Zamfara.
