Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has pledged at least three million votes for Bola Tinubu in Nigeria's 2027 presidential election. At a rally in Port Harcourt, Tinubu also urged young people to collect their voter cards and take part in the election, Punch reports.

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has promised to secure at least three million votes for Nigerian President Bola Tinubu in his state in the 2027 presidential election, the Nigerian daily Punch reports. The pledge was made on Saturday at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt during a campaign rally organised by the Rainbow Coalition for the All Progressives Congress (APC, the ruling party).

Addressing supporters, Bola Tinubu urged young people to collect their Permanent Voter Cards and take part in the 2027 election, saying their future depended on its outcome. “This election is yours. It is not mine. Your future depends on this election,” he said, describing the voter card as a “weapon” against poverty. The president thanked Rivers residents for their support in the 2023 presidential election and praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for organising the rally and his contributions to infrastructure.

The gathering was attended by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. Siminalayi Fubara's pledge comes after he abandoned his own re-election bid and handed Rivers to Wike on 1 November, and a week after Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo pledged 50% of his state's votes to the incumbent president.
