More than 200,000 people demonstrated in Amsterdam on 8 November 2026 in support of Palestinians, according to a provisional estimate by Amnesty International. The organisations behind the “Rode Lijn” campaign are calling on the Netherlands in particular to impose economic and military sanctions on Israel, according to Amnesty International and the organisers.
The organisations behind the “Rode Lijn” campaign, including Amnesty International, Oxfam Novib and The Rights Forum, are calling on the Netherlands to stop buying Israeli weapons, impose trade sanctions and increase diplomatic pressure on the Israeli government. They are also asking The Hague to condemn operations in the Gaza Strip more strongly, according to the organisers.
The mobilisation was the fourth in the campaign and began at Museumplein before a route around Vondelpark. The organisers estimated attendance using, among other things, aerial images and crowd-counting tools.
The Dutch government has already banned the import of products from Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten supports the diplomatic pressure exerted by his government and is also calling for measures from other actors in the conflict, including Hamas.
Previous mobilisations drew around 100,000 people in The Hague in May 2025, then 150,000 in June, while a march in Amsterdam in October 2025 attracted some 250,000 participants, according to the organisers.
