Brighton beat Brentford 2-0 to move into second place in the Premier League with 22 points, five behind Arsenal, after 10 matches. Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 3-1 to move up to fourth, while Chelsea lost 1-0 at Sunderland, according to the British press.

Brighton & Hove Albion won 2-0 at home against Brentford, who were reduced to 10 men after Igor Thiago was sent off, and now occupy second place in the English Premier League after 10 matches. Goals from Diego Gomez and Pascal Gross enabled Fabian Huerzeler’s side to move ahead of Manchester City in the standings, according to Reuters.

Brighton have 22 points before the international break, compared with 27 for Arsenal, who beat Hull City 1-0. The south-coast club are enjoying the best start to a season in their history in the English top flight. Liverpool also won 3-1 at Crystal Palace to move up to fourth place, while Sunderland beat Chelsea 1-0 to move off the bottom.

Brighton’s second place comes after Manchester City’s 3-1 defeat at Nottingham on 7 November. Arsenal had meanwhile extended their lead at the top of the league by beating Hull City, also on 7 November, in a result that confirmed their best-ever start to a Premier League season.
