Hagi Suwaneh, president of the youth wing of The Gambia’s United Democratic Party (UDP), has called on voters to reject President Adama Barrow’s bid for a third term in the presidential election on 5 December 2026. He described the vote as a defining moment for The Gambia and called for unity against corruption and mismanagement, according to Kerr Fatou.
Suwaneh made the appeal in a speech on the presidential election. The allegations of corruption and mismanagement are his own and have not been substantiated by the information reported by the outlet.
The appeal comes amid differing views on a third term: on 18 October, Mai Fatty backed another Barrow candidacy in his case for a third term. On 2 November, Bensouda’s coalition also vowed to challenge its exclusion from the presidential election, according to its pledge to resist exclusion.
