Kebba Madi Bojang, leader of Gambia’s National Democratic Party (NDP), has called on the government to ease congestion at Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, the country’s main referral facility, Kerr Fatou reports. At an NDP political meeting in Bundung, he urged President Adama Barrow to pay more attention to the difficulties faced by patients and medical staff.
Kebba Madi Bojang proposed that the president visit the hospital at least twice a month. He also asked why patients were not being transferred to the new hospital in Farato, which the government has announced is complete, if it is operational.
The NDP leader explained that his party had been set up to hold the government to account for its unfulfilled commitments and contribute to national development. He said disagreements within his former political party, where concerns had allegedly not been taken into account, had led to the creation of this independent platform.
