The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention expects the 62 contacts linked to the imported Ebola case to complete monitoring by 13 November 2026 at the latest. Tracing continues, with additional teams trained and an expanded surveillance strategy, according to the agency's latest situation report.

Nigeria plans to complete monitoring the 62 people identified after confirmation of an imported case of Ebola virus disease by 13 November 2026, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), the country's disease control agency, said in its latest Ebola situation report. The scheduled dates for completion of monitoring range from 31 October to 13 November.

Contact tracing and surveillance are continuing, with new personnel trained to strengthen the response. The NCDC also plans to assess other people for possible transfer to a quarantine centre and to continue monitoring contacts already placed in quarantine, according to the same report.

The national incident management system has been activated under the leadership of Muhammad Ali Pate, coordinating minister of Health and Social Welfare. The NCDC has also finalised its action plan and brought together partner agencies to improve coordination, resource mobilisation and monitoring of the response.

The development follows the monitoring of 54 contacts announced on 27 October in connection with the imported Ebola case in Nigeria. It comes after two suspected cases were isolated in north-eastern Nigeria, reported on 31 October.
