Nyesom Wike, Chukwuma Soludo and Ademola Adeleke support Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s re-election while remaining linked to opposition parties. Their choices are fuelling tensions over party loyalty and opposition strategy ahead of the 2027 general election, Sunday Vanguard reports.

Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke are supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign for the 2027 general election. Their positions are creating internal tensions for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Accord Party, Vanguard reports.

Nyesom Wike remains a member of the PDP, while Chukwuma Soludo leads Anambra under the APGA banner and Ademola Adeleke governs Osun with the Accord Party. Vanguard reports that this support is fuelling debate over party discipline and whether their officials can back a rival party’s candidate without weakening their own platform.

This sequence follows the alliance between the APC branch in Osun State and Ademola Adeleke, announced on 30 October. It also follows the launch, on 1 November, of 10,000 activists to re-elect Tinubu.
