Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission has re-included Isa Ali Pantami on the final list of candidates for the 2027 Gombe State governorship election. In Kano, a court-order notice keeps the Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate off the list, according to the list published on 31 October.

Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has re-included former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Ali Pantami on the updated final list of candidates for the 2027 Gombe State governorship election. Pantami is listed as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, with Haruna Ahmadu Hasan as his running mate, according to the list published on the INEC’s official website on Saturday 31 October.

In Kano State, INEC has retained the words “Court Order” instead of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidacies, including that of its governorship candidate, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, and his running mate. The commission said on 29 October that it had examined 69 appeals filed by 12 parties in 26 states concerning governorship candidacies, Leadership reports.

The update follows the first list published on 10 October and the candidacies rejected for 2027, including Pantami’s. INEC had linked the exclusions to the Supreme Court judgment of 24 September 2026 on the requirement for parties to submit their membership registers, according to Leadership. It has since approved 41 candidacies and rejected 28 after examining the appeals.
