The Nigerien army says it neutralised seven individuals during operations in the Agadez, Tillabéri and Diffa regions in the second half of October 2026. The toll also includes an arrest, weapons seizures and the surrender of former Boko Haram fighters, according to the Integrated Operations Coordination Centre, as reported by Aïr Info.
The Nigerien army says it neutralised seven individuals described as “mercenaries” during operations on several fronts in the second half of October 2026. The toll was reported by the Integrated Operations Coordination Centre (CICO), according to Aïr Info.
On 20 October, two armed men were killed near Amazguèr, in northern Niger, after opening fire on a patrol. Two days later, an operation in the Tabarkat area, in the Agadez region, led to the seizure of weapons, machine guns and hundreds of communications devices, according to CICO.
In the Tillabéri region, the army says it neutralised one individual in Tinfagatt and destroyed a camp described as a logistical base for armed groups. In Diffa, a Boko Haram fighter was killed on 16 October near N’Guigmi and a man suspected of supplying the group was arrested. On 24 October, in Bosso, former Boko Haram fighters surrendered with their families and handed over two AK-47 rifles and ammunition to the military authorities, according to CICO.
These operations followed Niger’s accusations against Chad over a drone strike, made on 26 October, followed by a call for an international investigation announced on 27 October. Neither the accusation concerning the strike nor the measures announced by Niamey were detailed in the military report cited by Aïr Info.
