Unemployed graduates blocked roads on Monday 2 November in Menzel Bouzaïane, in Tunisia’s Sidi Bouzid governorate, to demand the implementation of Law No. 18 of 2025, which provides for their exceptional recruitment into the civil service and public sector. Former MP and Workers’ Party leader Ammar Amroussia reported demonstrations and burning tyres in a post published that day.
Adopted in December 2025, the law has yet to lead to the expected recruitment, more than ten months after its adoption. Graduates are calling in particular for the publication of the necessary implementing regulations and the launch of the digital recruitment platform.
The protests have intensified over recent months. Demonstrators had protested at the Kasbah in Tunis on 8 July, and then outside the Municipal Theatre on 12 and 19 August 2026.
