Tunisian MP Dhafer Sghiri identifies debt, investment and social protection as the three priorities of the 2027 finance bill. The deficit would approach 15 billion dinars, while borrowing would exceed 28 billion and public debt reach 85% of GDP, according to Business News.

Tunisian MP Dhafer Sghiri puts the projected deficit in the 2027 state budget at 14.965 billion dinars and borrowing and cash-flow requirements at 28.122 billion dinars. He is calling on the government and Parliament to focus their discussions on controlling debt, supporting investment and social protection, according to Business News.

Tunisian public debt is expected to rise from 83.4% of GDP at the end of 2026 to 85% at the end of 2027. Dhafer Sghiri also considers it necessary to preserve the financial balances of public companies and institutions, as well as social security funds, whose financial difficulties threaten the continuity of services and compliance with their commitments, according to Business News.

These proposals follow hearings with the Minister of Economy and Planning on the economic budget and the Minister of Finance on the implementation of the 2026 budget and the assumptions adopted for 2027. They follow the call made on 15 October by Dhafer Sghiri to debate Tunisia’s 2027 budget.
