Tunisia’s 2027 budget bill sets aside 6.8 million dinars for the upkeep and development of diplomatic buildings in New York, Washington, Brussels, Bern and Jeddah. The funding forms part of a 17.8 million dinar investment programme for the foreign ministry, according to Tunisia Online.

Tunisia has earmarked 6.8 million dinars in its 2027 budget bill to continue maintaining and developing its diplomatic and consular buildings abroad. The funding is to cover, among other things, 1 million dinars for the Tunisian residence in New York, 1 million for a study on the residences and embassy premises in Washington, and 2.8 million for the renovation of the embassy in Brussels, according to the Tunisian 2027 budget bill.

The programme also provides 1 million dinars to expand the ambassador’s residence in Bern and an equivalent amount for the residence of the consul general in Jeddah. A further allocation of 3.4 million dinars is intended to strengthen Tunisia’s property holdings abroad, including 2 million to start construction of the embassy and diplomatic residence in Addis Ababa and 1 million for the consular service in Berlin.

Tunisia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad is to receive a total of about 17.8 million dinars in investment payment appropriations for 2027. This includes 17.4 million for infrastructure and the modernisation of working tools, as well as 400,000 dinars for the International Diplomatic Academy. The budget also provides 1.7 million dinars to renew vehicles used by diplomatic missions and 1.3 million to strengthen their security.

These investments are part of the Tunisian 2027 budget bill, whose total amount announced on 23 October was 68.9 billion dinars. The government has also planned 32,557 public-sector hires in 2027, announced on 30 October.
