Rescuers have found a second woman’s body under the rubble of a collapsed building in Eastleigh, Nairobi, bringing the provisional toll to two dead and four survivors. The search for trapped people continues with a multi-agency team, according to Kenya’s National Police Service.

Rescue teams found the body of a second woman on Tuesday 3 November in the rubble of a building that collapsed in Eastleigh, in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, Capital FM reports. The National Police Service confirmed the discovery; four people have been pulled alive from the building since the collapse.

A multi-agency team is continuing the search. Police asked the public to stay away from the site to allow rescuers and specialised equipment to operate. The authorities have not updated the number of people still being sought.

The discovery brings the number of confirmed deaths in the operation to at least two. The first body, also that of a woman, was found on 30 October. After the initial death toll was reported, Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan called on disaster management teams to intensify the search and mobilise the necessary resources.
