Kenya Power plans electricity interruptions lasting up to eight hours in several areas of Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos and five other counties. The scheduled outages on Sunday are intended to allow maintenance work, according to the Kenyan state-owned company.

Kenya Power will schedule electricity cuts of up to eight hours on Sunday 1 November 2026 in parts of Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Kitui, Kisumu, Siaya and Bungoma. The first interruptions will begin at 8 am, according to a statement issued by the state-owned electricity company on Saturday evening, which cited maintenance work.

In Nairobi, Parklands will be without electricity from 9 am to 5 pm. In Kiambu County, Gatuanyaga, Makongeni, Kiganjo, Kigwa and Ridgeways are among the areas affected, with outages scheduled between 9 am and 5 pm. In Machakos, Athi River will experience an interruption during the same hours, while Matuu will be affected from 8 am to 5 pm.

The work will also affect Mwingi, Kyuso, Tseikuru and Mutito in Kitui County from 8 am to 5 pm. In Kisumu, the Sondu and Miwani areas will be affected from 9 am to 5 pm. Kenya Power also plans work in some areas of Siaya and Bungoma.

The schedule extends a series of Kenya Power maintenance notices, following outages announced in five counties on 24 October and in Nyeri and Kiambu on 23 October. The company had also planned interruptions in 11 counties on 22 October.
