Tshisekedi puts ministry at centre of diplomatic coordination

Félix Tshisekedi reaffirmed that the Congolese Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the main channel for diplomatic relations and the preferred point of contact for foreign missions. At the Council of Ministers on 23 October 2026 in Kinshasa, he called for rigorous coordination of initiatives and agreements, according to the report read by the government spokesperson.

Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi reaffirmed the central role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordinating the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s diplomatic relations. He called for coherent, disciplined and unified action at the 101st meeting of the Council of Ministers, held on Friday 23 October in Kinshasa, according to the report read by the government spokesperson.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs must serve as the main institutional channel with foreign embassies and coordinate exchanges, negotiations and the monitoring of intergovernmental agreements, in collaboration with the ministries concerned, the report said. Félix Tshisekedi also warned against uncoordinated initiatives and contacts with diplomatic missions, which could weaken the credibility of Congolese positions.
