President Félix Tshisekedi accused Joseph Kabila of never having loved the Democratic Republic of the Congo after the former head of state chose to join the armed struggle against the government. At a meeting with members of the Sacred Union, he also called Kabila a “coward”, according to remarks reported by journalist Stanis Bujakera Tshiamala.
President Félix Tshisekedi accused Joseph Kabila, his predecessor as head of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on Saturday of never having loved the country he led for eighteen years. “Turning weapons against the people and country one has led for eighteen years proves that one never loved them,” he said at a meeting with members of the Sacred Union of the Nation, according to a source present after the meeting cited by journalist Stanis Bujakera Tshiamala.
Félix Tshisekedi also called Joseph Kabila a “coward” and said he should ask himself whether he had made “the right choice” by joining the rebellion. The Congolese head of state added that the former president had been “forced out of hiding under pressure” to give “a Congolese complexion” to an aggression originating from outside, according to the same source.
The presidential attack comes after Joseph Kabila took charge of the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation in Goma on 12 October. It also follows the rallying of people from Grande Orientale to the FRN, announced on 24 October.
