Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says Dangote Group investments support job creation, local production and reduced imports. Its activities, from cement production to oil refining, strengthen domestic supply chains, according to Punch, which reports remarks made at Nigeria's economic summit in Abuja.

Nigeria's President Bola Ahmed Tinubu praised the Dangote Group on Monday 26 October 2026 for its contribution to the country's economic growth, notably by creating jobs and reducing dependence on imports, the Nigerian daily Punch reports. The president was represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima during his visit to the group's pavilion in Abuja, at the 32nd Nigeria Economic Summit.

The Dangote Group, the conglomerate of Nigerian industrialist Aliko Dangote, invests in cement, fertilisers, sugar, salt and oil refining, among other sectors. According to Punch, it is the country's second-largest employer after the federal government. Tinubu also highlighted the role of private investment in increasing domestic production and creating jobs.

The 2026 summit, focused on job creation, productivity and shared prosperity, also gave Tinubu an opportunity to defend his government's economic reforms. The Dangote Group was presented by the president as an actor in local production and the development of national supply chains.
