Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo launched a coalition of parties in Awka to support the re-election of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu. He said the alliance should strengthen political participation in the South-East and ensure fair competition for other candidates, according to Vanguard.

The governor of Nigeria's Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, launched a coalition of parties in Awka on Sunday 1 November to support President Bola Tinubu's re-election. Soludo, the coordinator of Tinubu's presidential campaign in the state, presented the structure as a way of strengthening the participation of Igbo people in national politics, Vanguard reports.

The coalition brings together political leaders from several parties. Soludo assured candidates standing in other elections that they would benefit from a level playing field, while reaffirming that the common objective was to return Tinubu to the presidency. He said the APGA, the ruling party in Anambra, had chosen to align itself with the federal government and shared with the APC positions favourable to federalism and economic development.

The governor recalled that Tinubu had received only about 5,000 votes in Anambra in the 2023 presidential election, but that his administration had since provided support to the state. The launch took place on the same day as the announcement of the deployment of 10,000 activists for Tinubu and after Wike, Soludo and Adeleke backed Tinubu's re-election, also published on 1 November.
