The Nigeria Debate Consortium will hold a debate on 8 November 2026 between candidates for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election. The event will begin at 7pm, according to the consortium, which brings together Channels Television, TVC News, Punch, TheCable and Vanguard.

Discussions will cover transport, infrastructure, security, housing, education, health, employment and economic growth. The consortium aims to give candidates the opportunity to present their programmes and answer questions from residents.

All candidates will be subject to the same rules, speaking times and moderation conditions, the organisation said. Experienced journalists will host the debate, which will be broadcast to a national audience and on digital platforms.

The event is intended to launch a series of consortium election debates in several states considered competitive, ahead of a presidential debate and a town hall meeting as the 2027 general elections approach.
