Several injured and missing at APC rally in Nigeria

An APC presidential rally descended into chaos in Nasarawa State, leaving several people injured and others missing. Young people wearing party colours chanted support for Social Democratic Party candidate Adamu Abubakar in the presence of Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Premium Times reports.

Several people were injured and others went missing at an APC rally, the ruling party in Nigeria, in Nasarawa State, Premium Times reports. The gathering included Nigerian Vice-President Kashim Shettima.

The meeting descended into chaos after young people wearing APC-coloured clothing began chanting slogans in support of Adamu Abubakar, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for governor of Nasarawa and a former inspector general of police, according to Premium Times.

The incident occurred during Kashim Shettima’s mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, organised in Nasarawa on 4 November, after the vice-president spoke in Calabar on 3 November about the head of state’s economic reforms. These events had been reported in articles on Shettima’s mobilisation in Nasarawa and Shettima’s defence of Tinubu’s economic reforms.
