The agreement notably provides for exchanges of commercial information and the search for new opportunities for Rwandan producers and exporters, according to The New Times.
Rwanda wants to use Singapore as an entry point to buyers, traders, roasters and coffee distributors in Southeast Asia. The National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB), the Rwandan body responsible for developing agricultural exports, and the Singapore Coffee Association signed a memorandum of understanding during the ASEAN International Coffee Summit 2026 in Singapore, reports The New Times.
The agreement notably provides for the exchange of information on markets, sector developments and business opportunities to help Rwandan producers and exporters identify partners in the region. Claude Bizimana, NAEB director general, said the partnership should enable direct contact with buyers, traders, roasters and distributors, according to The New Times.
The arrangement is part of Rwanda's efforts to diversify destinations for its agricultural exports and strengthen its international trade relations, with Singapore serving as a gateway to other markets of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), according to The New Times.
