Rwandan company AgroPy processes refined pyrethrum oil into products designed to protect crops, animals and people against pests. Based in Musanze, it adds value to this agricultural raw material locally and supplies Rwandan and regional markets, according to Rwanda Dispatch.

AgroPy processes refined pyrethrum oil in Musanze, in northern Rwanda, into products designed to protect crops, animals and people against pests. The company buys its oil from Horizon SOPYRWA, which works with farmers and processes the plant, and uses it as the main active ingredient in its own formulations, according to Rwanda Dispatch.

AgroPy, established in 2011 under the name Agropharm Africa Ltd, is described as the only Rwandan company to add value to pyrethrum locally rather than exporting the refined ingredient in its entirety. Its aim is to prioritise domestic consumption before exports, reduce dependence on imported finished products, and develop employment and industrialisation, according to Rwanda Dispatch.

In 2016, AgroPy worked with the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) to launch Pyrethrins 2.19% EWC, a pyrethrum-based product used against the Antestia pest in coffee plantations. The product continues to be used by organic coffee growers, according to Rwanda Dispatch.
