Rwandan forward Fidali Uwiyaremye was sent home from the Amavubi camp on 5 November after two late arrivals during preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mali. Coach Stephen Constantine took the decision for indiscipline, according to sources cited by The New Times.
APR FC forward Fidali Uwiyaremye was expelled on Thursday 5 November from the Rwanda team camp by coach Stephen Constantine over alleged disciplinary breaches, days before the two-legged tie against Mali in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, reports The New Times.
Uwiyaremye arrived at around 1:50pm at the FERWAFA accommodation centre, nearly two hours after the midday reporting time and after the team meeting. He then arrived about 20 minutes late for training scheduled for 5pm, despite staying in the same complex, according to sources cited by The New Times.
The player had already been involved in a disciplinary incident during preparations for the previous qualifying matches against Liberia and Cape Verde. Constantine had then considered dropping him before his teammates asked the coach to forgive him. Uwiyaremye’s expulsion also comes after that of Keddy Nsanzimfura in September, amid a context in which discipline has become a focus for the English coach.
Rwanda top Group K with six points after two matches, while Mali also have six points. Both teams have won their first two qualifying matches, according to The New Times.
