The Wadau Madale Saccos cooperative in Dar es Salaam has passed 138 memberships out of the 334 members of the Wadau Madale association, as the registration process reaches about 90%, according to Zahra Kamtande, of the Kinondoni municipality's cooperative development commission. The issuing of identification numbers and the election of leaders must precede the official start of activities, according to Jamhuri Media.

The Wadau Madale Saccos savings cooperative, in Dar es Salaam, has 138 members out of the 334 members of the Wadau Madale association, announced Zahra Kamtande, of the Kinondoni municipality's Cooperative Development Commission, at the annual general meeting held on Saturday at the Madale Flamingo hall. The membership process is about 90% complete, according to her.

What remains is to complete in the registration system the members' data — names, NIDA numbers, dates of birth, number of shares and telephone numbers — in order to obtain the payment number and begin the election of leaders. Kamtande indicated that this system was created to make cooperative registration reliable and to exclude those without real members.

The president of Wadau Madale, Stephen Kazimoto, specified that the association's 334 members are not the same as the 138 already registered with the Saccos, the others being able to join later as new members. The cooperative's leaders are expected during the month of November, before its launch and the start of services to members. Kamtande cited as an example the Tegeta Friendship cooperative, in Ununio, able to lend up to 50 million shillings to its members.
