Charlene Ruto, daughter of Kenyan President William Ruto, confronted security officers at her wedding in Tanzania after they prevented her friends and photographers from approaching her. A video posted on social media shows the bride asking officers to let the photographers through before complaining about their excessive presence, reports Tuko.
The incident took place on Friday 6 November at the Malaika Beach Hotel in Mwanza, on the shores of Lake Victoria, where Charlene Ruto married Isaya Yunge. President William Ruto, who witnessed the exchange, turned to his daughter and responded humorously with the expression “Ei wewe”, a reaction that prompted amused comments on Kenyan social media.
The ceremony brought together several political figures, including Jeannette Kagame, Rwanda’s first lady, Ida Odinga, Kenyan National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula and Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi. Ministers Kipchumba Murkomen and Aden Duale, as well as Homa Bay County Governor Gladys Wanga, were also among the guests.
The security arrangements surrounding the ceremony were part of an event marked by the presence of numerous prominent figures. The couple had also banned the use of mobile phones during the reception, asking guests to hand over their devices or limit their use to prevent unauthorised photographs and recordings.
