Premier League: Liverpool beat Brighton 2-0 at Anfield

Liverpool beat Brighton 2-0 at Anfield through an own goal by Pascal Groß and a strike from Alexander Isak, according to Vanguard. The victory puts the Reds fourth, six points behind leaders Manchester City, and extends their run to four successive wins in all competitions.

Liverpool beat Brighton 2-0 at Anfield on Sunday in the ninth round of the Premier League, giving their Spanish manager Andoni Iraola his first victory in the English league at this stadium. An own goal by Pascal Gross in the 17th minute and a goal by Alexander Isak four minutes later secured the Reds’ victory, reports Vanguard.

Isak scored his sixth goal in seven league matches this season and his third in his last four games. The Swedish striker, signed from Newcastle for £125 million, is beginning to justify his transfer fee after a difficult first season at Liverpool.

Liverpool have recorded a fourth successive victory in all competitions since their 3-0 home defeat by Manchester City. The Reds are fourth, one point behind third-placed Brighton and six points behind leaders Manchester City.

The victory ends a run of five league matches without a home win for Liverpool, who had recorded four draws and a defeat. Brighton, who arrived at Anfield with the league’s best attack, suffered their second defeat of the season.
