Tottenham beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, winning a Premier League match at their London rivals’ ground for only the second time in 36 years. Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders scored an own goal in the second half before Cole Palmer was sent off, and Mathys Tel then scored the second goal, according to Punch.
The victory was Tottenham’s second consecutive league win and lifted the club to 12th place. It also ended a run of 41 away matches in which Tottenham had won only once against Chelsea in all competitions since 1990.
Chelsea, who were fourth before the match, suffered their first home defeat to Tottenham since 2018. The side managed by Xabi Alonso had nevertheless come into the game on the back of two wins against Bournemouth and Everton. London supporters booed their players at the final whistle.
