Bournemouth inflicted a 3-0 defeat on Manchester United in the Premier League, extending the Manchester club’s winless run to eight matches. Goals from Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson increased the pressure on manager Michael Carrick, Punch reports.
Bournemouth beat Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday, inflicting an eighth consecutive Premier League match without a win on the Manchester club. The defeat leaves Manchester United 16th, one point above the relegation zone, and weakens the position of their manager Michael Carrick, Punch reports.
Rayan opened the scoring in the 38th minute from a Justin Kluivert free-kick, before Marcus Tavernier doubled the lead five minutes later. Evanilson scored Bournemouth’s third goal for the side managed by Marco Rose, who had already beaten AC Milan 3-0 three days earlier.
Carrick left Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United’s captain and the previous season’s Premier League Player of the Season, on the bench for the whole match. The manager had justified the decision on «purely footballing» grounds, following Fernandes’s criticism of his tactical decisions in the 4-1 defeat by Como in the Champions League.
Manchester United have won only two of their 12 matches in all competitions this season, against Ipswich and Azerbaijani club Sabah. Bournemouth, who were ahead of United in the table before the match, have thus recorded a third 3-0 win at Old Trafford in four seasons, according to Punch.
