Retired Gabonese magistrate Pierre Ndong Aboghé has been appointed deputy director-general of the Network of Free Civil Society Organisations for Good Governance in Gabon (ROLBG), following an extraordinary general meeting held on Friday in Libreville, the Gabonese Press Agency reports. An international expert in combating corruption, he will lead the network’s new operational structure.
The meeting unanimously adopted a new organisational structure and renewed more than 75% of its officials. The executive secretariat was entrusted to economist Ghislain Mapangou, while Senator Georges Mpaga chaired the meeting. ROLBG is also opening up to new organisations specialising in transparency, the economy, combating corruption and illicit financial flows, the environment, the energy transition, human rights and democracy.
The network plans a digital strategy for 2026–2032, including a citizen reporting platform, an early-warning system on resource management and a public budget-monitoring dashboard. It also announced training in artificial intelligence for analysing public budgets, detecting illicit financial flows, monitoring deforestation through satellite imagery and combating disinformation, according to AGP.
This reorganisation follows the awareness-raising of elected officials on combating corruption in Ntoum, organised on 19 October by Gabon’s anti-corruption commission.
