Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo called on residents of Orhionwon to support Bola Tinubu’s re-election in the 16 January 2027 presidential election. He presented federal reforms as linked to the state’s development capacity, according to P.M. News.
The governor of Nigeria’s Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, said on Sunday that economic reforms by the federal government led by President Bola Tinubu had strengthened governments’ ability to pay salaries and finance development projects. He was speaking at an APC, the ruling party, rally in Abudu, in Orhionwon Local Government Area, according to P.M. News.
Okpebholo notably defended the removal of fuel subsidies, which he presented as a way of recovering resources previously concentrated in the hands of a few people. He also backed an electrification project in Orhionwon South, where residents say they have lived without electricity for more than 25 years, according to P.M. News.
The rally also saw new members join the APC. They were officially welcomed by Sylvester Aigbobor, the APC vice-chairman in Edo State, P.M. News reports.
Monday Okpebholo’s call comes after several public mobilisations in support of Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. On 4 November, Vice-President Kashim Shettima mobilised Nasarawa State for the re-election in Nasarawa, before further support for Tinubu was displayed on 7 November for their re-election in 2027.
