Nigeria’s exports have increased by 25% in two years, Nigerian Ports Authority director-general Abubakar Dantsoho said. He attributed the rise to federal reforms, improved port operations and increased sales of oil, manufactured and agricultural products, according to an authority statement.

Nigeria’s exports have increased by 25% in two years thanks to the policies and reforms of the federal government, Abubakar Dantsoho, director-general of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), the country’s public port authority, said in London on Tuesday, according to an NPA statement cited by Vanguard.

The increase concerns oil and gas, but also manufactured goods, agricultural products such as cocoa and cashew nuts, as well as raw materials. Dantsoho attributed the development to better coordination between the NPA and terminal operators, particularly APM Terminals, which has improved the efficiency of port operations and the competitiveness of exports.

The NPA has established about four terminals dedicated to processing exports. These facilities bring together port operators, the customs service and other agencies to inspect goods in Nigeria before they are shipped and facilitate their compliance with international standards, Dantsoho explained during the International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH)’s annual world conference.
