Chevron plans to expand its natural gas exploration activities in Egypt, its Vice-President of Exploration, Kevin McLachlan, said during a meeting with Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, on the sidelines of ADIPEC 2026. The two officials reviewed the results of drilling at the Nargis-2 well in the Mediterranean, according to Daily News Egypt.
Drilling confirmed the extension of the gas-bearing formations identified at the Nargis-1 well and revealed an additional gas-bearing layer. These results are expected to make it possible to assess the volume of resources and the field’s development potential before further investment decisions, Daily News Egypt reports.
Chevron is currently involved in exploration in six offshore areas in Egypt: Nargis, North Dabaa, Lotus, Northwest Atoll, North Simián and North Cleopatra, where the company partners with Shell, the area’s operator. The discussions also covered connecting Cyprus’s Aphrodite gas field to Egypt’s gas reception, processing and liquefaction infrastructure.
