Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Ahmed Rostom, presented the country’s investment projects and public management reforms in Madrid during the 2026 Sustainable Development Goals Dialogue. He defended the transformation of national priorities into projects capable of securing private and international funding, according to Daily News Egypt.
Ahmed Rostom announced the creation of an Egyptian infrastructure finance guarantee facility, developed with the World Bank Group. The mechanism is intended to reduce market and structural risks and attract banks and investors to renewable energy, water desalination and sustainable urban development.
The ministry has also reorganised public investment management by integrating digital real-time monitoring systems. The system is intended to improve transparency, direct public resources towards bankable projects, speed up their implementation and promote job creation.
The government wants to establish and launch the facility quickly at the Egypt Forum 2026. It should also finance project preparation at an early stage and strengthen their creditworthiness with international financial institutions.
