The Egyptian government is studying the creation of an integrated investment and logistics zone around New Capital International Airport. The project is intended to host economic, industrial and logistics activities, attract foreign investors and make better use of public assets, according to government spokesperson Mohamed Adel.
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has ordered the formation of a working group to examine proposals for developing New Capital International Airport and assess investment opportunities in the surrounding area, according to government spokesperson Mohamed Adel.
The proposals include an integrated investment and logistics zone intended to host economic, industrial and logistics activities. International investors have expressed interest in the site, while other proposals concern expanding and developing the airport, Mohamed Adel said.
The group will bring together the relevant ministries and authorities to prepare a comprehensive vision for the project and assess investment options. Monday’s meeting included Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, Civil Aviation Minister Sameh al-Hefny and Khaled Abbas, chairman of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development, the company responsible for developing the New Capital.
The project aims to attract more foreign investment, create jobs and support economic activity in the New Capital. On 5 October, Egypt also announced that it was preparing its foreign investment strategy for 2027–2030.
