A Sierra Leonean delegation led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Bryan Smart-Kanu is in Rwanda to explore agricultural investment opportunities and establish partnerships, Sierraloaded reports. Having arrived on 25 October, it is undertaking a week-long study visit scheduled to run until 31 October 2026.
Organised with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the visit brings together public- and private-sector representatives, particularly from the poultry, cassava and coffee sectors. Discussions with Rwandan officials, agribusinesses and producers focus on value chains, farming techniques, public-private partnerships and extension services.
The delegation is seeking to identify opportunities for technology transfer and improved market access. The visit is part of the Sierra Leonean government’s Feed Salone programme, which aims to increase national food production and the country’s self-sufficiency.
