The director-general of examinations and school control, Mamady 49 Keïta, explains the regularisation process as part of digitisation under way since 2024, Guinéenews reports.
Errors in entries on the digital platform of Guinea’s Directorate-General for Examinations and School Control (DGECS) could force pupils to repeat a year they have already completed, Guinéenews reports. Parents have reported missing grades, pupils who have not been registered and student identification numbers that do not correspond to the grade attended, notably in Koundara, Gaoual, Léro and Conakry.
Mamady 49 Keïta, director-general of examinations and school control, explained that digitisation launched in 2024 is intended to centralise pupils’ school records and regulate progression from one grade to the next. For the 2024–2025 school year, pupils in the 7th and 11th years were registered on the dgecsecoles.com platform before the system was extended to intermediate primary and secondary classes the following year, with the exception of the 9th year.
In Kamabi district, in Koundara prefecture, pupils who attended the 3rd and 4th years the previous year are reportedly classified as repeaters because their grades may not have been entered. The 2026–2027 school year began in Guinea on 5 October, with a postponement to 2 November for first-year technical education pupils the 2026–2027 school year begins in Guinea.
